Caroline “Carol” L. Kent, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 19th, 2022, in Lakeland, Florida.
Carol was born April 30, 1940 in Washington D.C., and moved to Somerset, PA with her parents when she was very young. After graduating from Somerset Joint High School, she moved back to Maryland and worked in D.C. where she met Perry Hardin. After working together in the same office in D.C. they fell in love, and were married in Virginia and moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to raise a family.
Carol was a very proud Mom to 3 children, “Grams” to 2 grandchildren, Great Grandma to 5 and Grandmother to 4 Fur Baby pets.
Carol had a true love for bowling and was a member of many bowling leagues throughout her whole life! She had at least one perfect bowling score of 300 (if not more), which was an example of how she strived for perfection. She is pictured here after winning one of her many Blue Ribbon Medals in the Polk County Seniors Bowling League in 2010. When she wasn’t bowling, she loved rooting for her favorite football teams: Oklahoma University and of course Alabama Football… “ROLL TIDE”!
Mom always had a fun joke to share and loved keeping in touch with family and friends.
Survivors include her children: Donald Hardin (Barbara) in Florida, Gregory Hardin, and Nancy Tedford in Alabama; her grandchildren: Riley (Tedford) Phillips in Mississippi & Grey Tedford (Mallory) in Maryland; grandchildren: Hayden Phillips, Jacob & Hudson Lenard; and Bays & Rivi Tedford; brothers: James (Jim) Fike (Maggie), John Fike (Tonia), Pastor Paul (Chick) Fike (Linda); and sister: Bonnie Hopkins; Brother-in-law: Rev. Kris Brinlee and Sister-in-law: Sheila Hopkins, Sharon Hays, Linda Smith and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband: Tom Kent; her father: Paul Fike and stepmother: Violet Fike; her mother Caroline Hopkins and stepfather: Howard Hopkins; brother:Robert (Bob) Fike; sister: Peggy Brinlee; and brother: Glenn Hopkins and father to her children: Perry Hardin
