Those left to honor Carol’s memory are her two sons, Mark (Diane) Blackwood of Davenport, Iowa, and Brian Blackwood of Iowa City, Iowa; her daughter, Dr. Joan B. (Jerry) Davis of North Vernon, Indiana; four grandchildren, Elaine (Johnny) Brassard of DeWitt, Iowa, Brett Blackwood of San Diego, California, Emily Davis and Grace Davis of North Vernon, Indiana; three great-grandchildren, Kayson Blackwood, and Jack and Victoria Brassard; her mother, Lucille E. Ruth O’Roake of Newton; three sisters, Peggy (Robert) Hall of Des Moines, Mary (Bill) Mahedy of Des Moines, and Susan (Norman) Bebout of Ankeny, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her father and step fathers; husband, Everett in 2005; and a sister in infancy.
Carol was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Des Moines. She was a homemaker; a child care provider for many years, she was also the secretary/receptionist for Dr. Jerry Lewis for several years and later was the O. R. Receptionist at Skiff Medical Center for many years.
Carol enjoyed the Iowa Sculpture Festival held annually at Maytag Park; she also enjoyed the artists and other artwork around Newton. She enjoyed her volunteering. Carol loved having her family with her.
