Caroline (DeAngelo) Benson, 82, of Bristol, formerly of Plainville, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 29, 2012.
She was born in Providence, RI on May 28, 1929, one of seven children to the late Louis and Susan DeAngelo. A longtime resident, she was a graduate of Plainville High School and went on to work for General Electric shortly after graduation, before staying at home to raise her two sons. She accepted a position at Cigna where she was employed for ten years prior to her retirement and later, fulfilled her love for children while working at Linden Street School and the YMCA in their child care programs. Caroline’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her grandchildren, with whom she shares a special bond. Caroline led a life full of happiness and optimism, even during her brief illness. Her sense of humor and feistiness will forever be remembered by her family and many dear friends.
She leaves her devoted sons and daughters-in-law, Kurt and Darlene of Plainville and Jeff and Jennifer of Hebron and their children, Raymond, Dustin, Jesse, and Chelsea; her adored grandchildren, Jordan, Aaron, and Angela, and her great-granddaughter, Isabella; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Rachel DeAngelo and Joseph and June DeAngelo; along with many nieces and nephews, all who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her brothers, Donald and Louis, Jr., and her sisters, Dolores Elliott and Judy DeAngelo.
Family and friends may gather in celebration of her life on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
