Mrs. Werkmeister died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Community Pride Care Center, Battle Creek.

Carol was born February 10, 1938 near Enola the daughter of Irvin and Eva (LeFavor) Black. She attended Districts #47 and #66 and then graduated from Madison Public High School and attended Wayne State Teachers College.

Carol married Douglas Werkmeister on November 15, 1959 at Trinity United Methodist Church. They began their married life at the farm 3 miles north of Madison, raising hogs, beef cattle and farming, and then soon added a milking herd to the farm. A daughter Lolita was born to them in 1964. In 1971 they sold the dairy cattle and returned to raising only beef cattle.

Carol was an artist that enjoyed doing paintings, drawings, working with leather and painted business signs. She served on the school board of District #48, treasurer at Trinity United Methodist Church, Co-leader of the Madison Mustangs 4-H Club.

Carol enjoyed genealogy and keeping her family history current. She loved to write, and had spent many hours writing and editing 2 manuscripts loosely based on her family’s history.

Carol is survived by her daughter Lita and her husband Cullen Sila of York, four grandchildren, Megan, Chancy, Colton, and Caitlin, and three great grandchildren, Austin, Nolan and Wyatt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and an infant son Arthur.
