Carol Warmbier, 73 of Three Oaks, Michigan passed away Monday morning, November 11, 2013 at Providence Hospital in Novi, Michigan after a six month courageous battle with multiple heath issues beginning with a fall on May 18. Carol was born July 23, 1940 in Angola, Indiana to Charles and Irene Skove. After graduating from high school she continued her education at Western Michigan University where she met her future husband Daniel Warmbier. On January 29, 1961 they married and they graduated together in 1963.
They taught 5 years in Caro, Michigan and two years in Angola before moving to Three Oaks Township in 1970 where they raised their 3 children. Carol began teaching at the River Valley Public School System and Dan taught for the New Buffalo Public School System. Amazingly Carol was certified to teach any grade K-12 at River Valley. She received her Masters Degree in School Administration in 1995 and served as principal at River Valley Middle – High School for three years before retiring in 2001. Carol was an avid reader, and crossword puzzle aficionado. She was devoted to family and was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and their achievements. She stayed well connected with Dan’s many relatives as well.
Carol’s favorite book was Anne of Green Gables. She always put others’ needs before her own.Survivors include her husband Dan, daughters, Marie Warmbier-Smith of Pleasant Lake, Indiana and Yvonne Warmbier-Ramp of Northville, Michigan; grandchildren, Simon age 13, Arianna, age 12 and Isabella, age 10; her father, Chuck Skove, age 97 of Angola, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her mother Irene in 2002 and by her son Jason Skove Warmbier who died in 2008 from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
