Carol Sue Edwards (née Smith), of Rockville, Maryland died on Friday, June 7, 2019 at the age of 79.
Carol Sue was born in Fairmont, West Virginia to Donald and Mary Katherine Smith. She was one of five children and went to Fairmont State College to become a teacher. After graduation, she came to Maryland with her childhood friend Jeanne Zeck to teach in Montgomery County Public Schools. It was in Maryland she met her husband, Robert Edwards, and they married in 1966. She had had two children, Ronald and Jennifer, and after her children were born she became a full-time homemaker.
Carol Sue loved gardening, playing bridge, working puzzles and counted cross stitch, crocheting, and watching football (WVU and the Redskins) as well as game shows. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, her Aunt Carolyn, and her three brothers. She is survived by her children, Ronald and Jennifer (a teacher just like her mother), along with their significant others Morena and Christopher, and her granddaughter Kristen. She is also survived by her sister Penny and brother-in-law Jim, who provided support in times of need, and her niece Jodi. Additionally, she is survived by her sister-in-law Betty and brother-in-law Leroy along with many nieces and nephews on both her and her husband’s side (David, Gretchen, Martha, Jim, Donna Kay, Mike, Keith, Allison, Matthew, Chris, Lynne, John, Michael, Maurice, Clay, Roy, Jr., Vickie, Jason, Donny, Debbie, Kevin, Melvin, Jr., and Diane) and their children.
