Carol Sager, age 74 of Waverly, IA, formerly of Freeport, IL, passed away at home on Saturday, November 11, 2017. She was born September 14, 1943, in Monroe, WI; the daughter of the late Melvin and Frieda (Smith) Siedschlag. She married Gerald Sager on April 25, 1964; he passed on May 30, 2006.
Carol graduated from Juda High School in 1961. She then went on to Freeport Memorial School of Nursing, graduating in 1964, and worked many years as a Registered Nurse. She attended Park Hills Evangelical Free Church in Freeport and Embassy Vineyard Church in Waverly, IA. She was active in church organizations and served in the nursery. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, trivia, geography, and genealogy. She was an avid sports fan, following the Badgers, Cubs, Packers, and Lakers. Most of all, Carol was truly invested in her family. She was always involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
She is survived by her sons, Gary (Sue) Sager of Riverside, IA, Bill Sager of Freeport, Tim (Michelle) Sager of Waverly, IA, and Steve (Nicole) Sager of Bentonville, AR; grandchildren, Jerica Sager, Simon Sager, Alyssa (Luke) Weber, AJ (Nicci) Sager, Emily Sager, Andrew (Maddi) Sager, Abbi Sager, Megan Sager, Paul Sager, Gabi Sager, Bailey Sager, and Ashlee Sager; great-grandchildren, Liam, Brinley, and two more on the way; brothers, Larry (Cynthia) Siedschlag, Dave (Angie) Siedschlag, Duane (Sherri) Siedschlag, and Allan (Marla) Siedschlag; sisters, Betty Siedschlag and Linda (Bob) Alderks; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
