Carol Anne Murphy (“Nona”) passed away November 14, 2016 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. She was seventy-four years young.
Daughter of Peter and Dorothy Caffarone, Carol was born in Rockaway Beach, Queens, NY. In 1965 she married her husband Owen and in 1977 moved to Lincroft, NJ with their three children. Known affectionately as “Nona”, Carol was a communicant and member of the Social Concerns Committee at St. Leo the Great RC Church, Lincroft. She enjoyed photography, needlepoint, playing the lottery and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Carol worked at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft as an Administrative Assistant for over twenty-five years.
Carol was predeceased by her husband, Owen in 2003; her parents Peter and Dorothy, her brother-in-law Fr. Paul Murphy, and sister-in-law Peggy Moran. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Murphy of Neptune City, her two sons and their wives Michael and Patricia Murphy of Howell, and Peter and Anne Murphy of Lincroft; her brother Douglas Caffarone and his wife Toni of Howard Beach, Queens; her sister-in-law Eileen Crowley of Woodside, Queens; seven grandchildren: Kelli, Michael, Maximilian, Christian, Owen, Katie and Caroline; one great-grandchild Noah; and many loving nieces and nephews.
