Carol Margaret (Schafer) Ott, 93, of Oglesby, passed away August 5, 2014 at Heritage Healthcare Center in LaSalle.
Mrs. Ott was born September 5, 1920 in Tonica to Rudolph and Amelia (Zimmerman) Schafer. She married Harold W. Ott in February 22, 1947 in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Peru. Mrs. Ott was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Tonica.
Survivors include three children, Steven (Christi) Ott of Fort Atkinson, WI, Lawrence Ott of Cherry and Delores (Paul) Gurnig of West Dundee; five grandchildren, Christopher Ott, Carey Ott, Kelly Ott, Saralyn Ott and Christopher Earhart; one great-grandchild, Julian Torben Ott on the way and two sisters, Phyllis Olsen and Evadean Braun both of LaSalle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Walker Otte on March 27, 2002; two sons, Dennis and Lanny Ott; one granddaughter, Courtney Rae Ott; two daughters-in-law, Aurelia and Connie Ott; three brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Otts’ family members remember Carol for her competitive spirit when playing Scrabble, her voracious appetite for reading and her love of gardening and flowers. She will be deeply missed by her family and her friends. Pallbearers will be Steve Ott, Lawrence Ott, Christopher Ott, Carey Ott, Paul Gurnig and Christopher Earhart.
