Carol Mae Berg, age 84, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday February 23, 2022. She was born in Rochester, NY on January 19, 1938 to Ward J. and Florence Merle Roberts Berg. She was raised in Rochester and Oakfield, NY. She attended Oakfield High School where she enjoyed cheerleading, chorus, and field hockey.
Carol was married to Jack P. Hawks for 26 years and they had four children together. She was then married to John Contreras for seven years.
Carol had a passion for crafting, reading, puzzles, games, and gardening. She was a worldwide traveler. She was a loving and devoted mother, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her so much happiness. She touched countless lives with her generous spirit, was always there to brighten the lives of others, and regularly reached out to those she loved by phone or mail.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her former husbands, her brothers Ward and Jack Berg. She is survived by her children, Debra (William Peabody) Hawks, Jack L. Hawks, Judy Hawks, and Susan (Gary) Bricker; grandchildren, Brianna (Jessica), Lore (Victor), Edu (Chely), Nick, Anthony, Will (Lauren); and great-grandchildren, Ana-Lucia, Fernanda, Aiden, Alexander, Lily, and her sister (Ruth), many nieces, nephews, “soul sisters” (June and Di), and friends.
We will always cherish our memories with her and she will be deeply missed.
