Norwich – Carol J. (Kearney) Roberts, 81, beloved wife of the late George J. Roberts, Jr., formerly of Grant Ct., died Thursday morning, May 12, 2016, at the home of her daughter Peggy in Stonington. Born in Norwich she was the daughter of the late William and Marguerite (Keirans) Kearney. Mrs. Roberts was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy graduating with the class of 1952.

On September 14, 1957 in Sts. Peter and Paul Church she was united in marriage to George J. Roberts, Jr. who died on July 13, 2009 after fifty-one years of marriage.

Mrs. Roberts worked for many years in the business department of the William W. Backus Hospital. Carol was a member of the Norwich Womens City Club, she volunteered at the Backus hospital in their gift shop and as a transport assistant after her retirement. She was also a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church and was a member of the O-50 and couples club there. Carol was a devoted lover of dogs which she called her babies including her beloved Shadow, Cliff and Norm, and presently Henry.

Surviving is a daughter Margaret “Peggy” Roberts, whom she made her home with of Stonington and her companion William Rogers; two sons Thomas Roberts of Wallingford and his wife Kerry and James Roberts of Amston and his wife Debbie; a brother William T. Kearney of Norwich; a sister Margaret “Peggy” Montano of Farmington; and five grandchildren Ryan, Colin, Erin, Jonathan, and Jeremy.
