Carol Joanne Dexter, 75, passed away at her home on Monday, November 25, 2019. She was born May 10, 1944 in Grand Rapids, MI a daughter of Cornelius and Cornelia (Mellema) Kloostra. Carol grew up in the northwest side of Grand Rapids and attended Union High School. On November 29, 1963.
Carol married Thomas R. Dexter and they moved to Kalamazoo in 1964. Carol had various retail/sales jobs before she settled into a long history of selling AVON for 40 years. Carol enjoyed camping on the beach. One of her favorite activities was going to South Haven, stopping by Clementine’s for dinner and then Sherman’s for ice cream. The loves of her life were her grandchildren; they were truly her pride and joy.
Her church life was centered on various small study groups; the last Bible study group having significant impact and gaining meaningful friendships. Her family draws great comfort in knowing she now rests in the arms of Jesus. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gordon Kloostra.
She is survived by her husband, Tom; two children, Deb (Mike) Wogoman of Niles, MI and Dan (Crystal) Dexter of Kalamazoo, MI; seven grandchildren, Evan (Lauren) Dexter, Seth Dexter, Luke Dexter, Grace Dexter, Conner Gray, Brandon Wogoman and Matthew Wogoman; sister, Ruth (James) Petersen; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
