Carol J. Hirsch, 93, of Anderson, passed away on August 22, 2014 at Legacy of Bethany Pointe. She was born on September 6, 1920 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. After residing and starting a family in New Jersey, she relocated to Anderson where she spent the balance of her life. Carol graduated from Trenton High School, and Miami University of Oxford, OH.
She was a retired elementary teacher. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was active in the Friendship Club, member of the Mid-Century Club, Hawthorne Club, Ladies of Kiwanis, Erudian Club, Anderson Country Club, a former board member of Visiting Nurse Association, and on the board of directors for the Isabel Society.
Carol is survived by her loving daughters, Elizabeth Shearer of Anderson, IN and Sara H. (Sverre) Olsen of Bloomington, IL; grandchildren, Kurt Louis Olsen and Kelsey Elizabeth Olsen; 2 nieces, 1 nephew, several cousins, and special friend, Tom Epply. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis “Bud” Hirsch; parents, Clarence F. and Vida (Vercoe) Jones; and brother, Vercoe Jones.
