Carol Funnemark, age 68, of Algona, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona. Carol Jean Funnemark, the daughter of Garel and Bernice (Reaper) Leek, was born on September 21, 1948, in Algona, Iowa. She attended Corwith-Wesley School and graduated from Corwith-Wesley High School in 1967. Following her graduation, Carol attended Naeve Hospital School of Nursing in Albert Lea, Minnesota and graduated in June of 1970. On July 10, 1970 Carol was united in marriage with Bill Funnemark in Algona. She had worked as the Director of Nursing at the Algona Good Samaritan Society until her retirement on January 17, 2014. On January 20, 2014, Carol became a nurse consultant for LTC Resources. Carol was a member of Grace Church in Algona. She loved her family and attended her children’s and grandchildren’s events. Carol enjoyed working in long term care. She loved riding in the convertible with Bill and traveling, especially to the beach. Carol loved to collect and sell Longaberger and cherished the friendships she made. Carol is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bill of Algona; her three children, Stephanie (Pete) Hamell of Keller, TX, Mickolyn (Trent) Clapper of Baxter and Chad (Laura) Funnemark of Oregon City, OR; nine grandchildren: Courtney Clapper, Connor Hamell, William Clapper, Daniel Hamell, Trice Clapper, Lainey Funnemark, Sophie Funnemark, Andrew Hamell and Addy Funnemark; two sisters, Janice (Tim) Long of Wesley, and Barbara Maas of Johnston; and many nieces and nephews.
