Rockledge, FL – Carol Friedman Fine (z’’l), 79, died early in the evening Sunday, February 28, 2016 at her home, following a lengthy illness.
Carol leaves her son Cantor Geoffrey B. Fine and his husband, Dr. Joel Hencken (of Watertown, MA); her daughter Debbie (Fine) Whittaker and her husband, Courtney Whittaker, and their son Shane (of Rockledge, FL), and many close friends and family.
Carol grew up in Newburgh, NY. She met her husband, Richard (z’’l), at a Jewish Youth group event in Junior High school. After graduating from Boston University with a degree in violin performance, she played professionally with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra where she was first chair.
She married Richard Fine (z’’l) in June, 1958 and lived in Guam and Maryland while he was in the Navy. During this time, Carol was a stay-at-home mother to their children Geoffrey and Debbie, sold pianos at Yamaha Pianos, and gave both violin and piano lessons. Later in life, she received her Real Estate broker license and very successfully sold luxury homes for many years.
She and Richard were wonderfully social and easily made life-long friendships wherever they lived or travelled around the world. Carol always had a smile on her face and a kind word to say about everyone.
Carol loved music, traveling, flea markets, fabulous costume jewelry, CNN and C-Span, HSN, needlepointing, desserts, and doting on her children and grandson.
Carol will always be remembered for her smile, her friendliness, and her joie de vivre. May she be remembered for a blessing.
