Carol Douglas, 72, of Hazel Green, passed away on Friday after a long battle with cancer.

Carol was born in Fayetteville, TN in 1947. She is a graduate of Hazel Green High School in 1965.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, Tommy Douglas, her son Bryan and her daughter-in-law, Heather, and their son Blake Douglas. All of Hazel Green, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda Annette Douglas, her mom, Iva Ethelene Norris, and step father “Jack” Norris of Hazel Green, Alabama, and a host of loving family members and friends. She is also survived by her countless beloved animals.

She never worked outside the home, however, she was a remarkable homemaker. She cooked all three meals a day, and grew a garden most farmers would envy. She sewed clothes, curtains, and anything else the family needed. She knitted blankets for events per request, and there never was a time they fell short of expectations. She loved birds, especially cardinals, and taught her grandson Blake everything she knew about them. She knew the names of most plants, and could care for them like no other. She fed animal neighbors such as birds, squirrels, chipmunks, etc. Even feeding stray domestic animals, which is what led to her having so many pets. She looked after all forms of life that graced her property. She had an amazing gift of comforting, and was selfless in the way she cared for others. She was never more than a phone call away.
