Carol Dawson Treat, age 79, of Stratford entered peaceful rest on January 14, 2015 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Carol was born in St. Louis, MO on December 4, 1935 to Ruth and Fritz Dawson. Her early years were spent in the nearby community of Webster Groves. Carol’s elementary school years were spent in Great Neck, Long Island, NY and her high school years were spent in Shelton, CT where she was a graduate of Shelton High School. Carol attended the University of CT and was a graduate of Southern CT State University with both a bachelor of arts degree and a master’s degree in education. Carol taught first and second grades at Forest Elementary School in West Haven from where she retired in 2004.
Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Fritz Dawson, Jr. Carol is survived by sisters Julie Lloyd of Richmond, Virginia, and Linda Light of Huntington Beach, California; son David Treat and wife Laura Treat of Hampstead, New Hampshire; daughters Jamie Treat of Seattle, Washington and Judy Ruggiero and husband Anthony Ruggiero of Orange, CT; four grandchildren: Melissa, Kylie and Emma Treat, and Andrew Verderame; former husband, Howard Treat of Orange, CT; sister-in-law, Beverly Bettencourt of Woodbridge, CT; and special friend Lynne Farrell of Shelton, CT. Carol led a very full life.
