WINSTED – Carol Correnti, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at McLean’s Home in Simsbury. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph Corrrenti. Born December 7, 1925 in Pittston, PA; the daughter of the late Frederick and Petrina (Salvo) Shandra. Carol loved to gather with her friends, playing cards, watching movies and happily reminiscing about the days gone by. She was a member of the Winsted Senior Center, the Catholic Woman’s Club and a long time member of the Italian American Woman’s was a loving, caring mother of five children. She was a wonderful cook and would attract many neighborhood children to her home with the delicious smell of her spaghetti sauce and Italian her children grew, Carol entered the work force. She had an exceptional work ethic with a strong desire to help others which led her to become a dedicated staff member at Highland Acres Healthcare Facility. She worked there for many years until her retirement in 1994. Carol is survived by her two sons, Salvatore Correnti of Tolland, MA and Frederick (Cyndi) Correnti of WA; two daughters, Carole (Walter) Swanson of Barkhamsted and Cynthia Bardino of Winsted; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Fran Shandra of Winsted; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Jo-Ellen Correnti and three brothers, James, Michael and Joseph “Jake” Shandra. The family would like to thank the staff and the Hospice team at McLean’s for their loving care and kindness.
