Carol (Conklin) McNaughton was born in Lansing, Michigan 22 January 1935, the third of three daughters born to the late Carlton and Alberta (Hilton) Conklin. She died at home in Middletown 15 March 2010 at the age of 75. Following commencement from Michigan State University in 1957, she moved to California, teaching third grade in San Diego. In 1958 she was married to Robert McNaughton in Lansing and they moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she taught second grade in Skokie. In 1959 they moved to Duluth, Minnesota, where a son, Timothy, was born. They then returned to Chicago, where she again taught second and third grade in Skokie. Following seminary education, they moved to Orange, Massachusetts in 1962, where a second son, Brian, was born. Here she taught second grade. Moving to South Plainfield, New Jersey in 1966, two daughters, Susan and Ann, were born.
