Carol A. Gilmartin of Plymouth, formerly of Abington, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on the morning of May 12. She was the beloved wife of the late George Gilmartin. She was born on November 2, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Millie and Bill Martin. Carol was the loving mother of the late Peter grew up in Abington and was a graduate of Abington High School and Wilfred Academy of Hair and Beauty Culture in Boston. Carol was active in St. Bridget’s Sodality. She enjoyed being involved in all of her childrens’ activities. She was particularly proud of her support of girl’s sports in town, organizing the first ever girls’ sports banquet. She loved attending all of their sporting events, even hiding to watch when one was too nervous for her to be there. She was a die hard Patriots Fan, refusing to leave her house if there was a Pats game on. Carol was a talented self-taught seamstress. She made each of her daughters’ wedding gowns and christening clothes for her grandchildren. She was the glue that held her family together. Nothing was more important than seeing her family gathered, no matter the occasion. One of her greatest joys was spending time with family and friends chatting out on her deck overlooking Big Sandy Pond. She is survived by her daughters and spouses, Sharon and Bob Doherty of Halifax, Michelle and Tom Hardiman of Plymouth, Alynne and John Greene of Randolph and Kathleen Cole and Al Beane of E. Sandwich. She was the cherished grandmother of Jenna, Michael, John, Sean, Carolyn, Shea, Kelsey, Nicholas, Joshua, and Jillian. She was great grandmother to Fionnlagh.
