Carol Ann Goodman passed away in the early morning on May 4, 2019, in Kalamazoo, MI after a long battle with cancer. Carol was born on January 24, 1938, in Sterling, MI a daughter of Harold and Edna “Eddie” (Young) Nixon.

Carol grew up in the Sterling area and was very fond of their family home on Skidway Lake in Ogemaw County. At the ripe old age of 18, Carol met and married the father of her cherished two children. The family eventually settled in Galesburg, MI where Carol worked as a bookkeeper and her husband owned and operated the family excavation business. Carol Goodman would later remarry and move to Kalamazoo, MI where she lived the remainder of her life. Carol brought an accountant’s attention to detail to all her favorite activities. She loved arts and crafts, botanical gardening, interior decorating, classical music, international travel, reading, and staying in fashion. She was a collector of quotes, a calligraphy artist, and a focused photographer of the intricacies of the evolution of a flower’s life. She enjoyed the KIA and was a Kalamazoo Symphony season ticket holder. Carol learned how to prepare classic French cuisine and turned that interest into a gourmet catering business. In the latter part of her working career, Carol worked at MPI from where she retired in 2008. Carol loved her house and garden and found great joy in them her entire life.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Edna (Young) Nixon; a brother, Harold “Nick” Nixon, Jr.; a sister, Betty (Nixon) Tremble; and a son-in-law, Ty Brodhagen.

She is survived by two children, Kim Brodhagen of Mattawan and Kerry Banghart of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren, Travis Brodhagen, Robert (Kelli) Brodhagen, Tanner (Sarah) Brodhagen, Ashlee (Greg) Wolthuis, Baxter Banghart, and Anders Banghart; five great-grandchildren, Tyanna, Danielle, Hunter, Ty and Will, and nephews.
