Carol A. (Nelson) Owczarzak, 74, of Upton, formerly of Hopedale, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 26, 2020.
Carol leaves behind her husband of 23 years, Jerome Owczarzak. She is also survived by her daughters Debra (Parker) Hodgens and husband Christopher, and Kathleen (Parker) Haynes and husband Steven, all of Hopedale, and her step-son Michael Owczarzak of Westboro.
She had nine grandchildren: Christopher, Maureen, Catherine, Francis, and Nora Hodgens, and Sheridan, Dalton, Steven, and Colin Haynes, and a great-grandson Javian Summers, all of Hopedale. She is also survived by her sisters Ingrid Doucette, Joyce Allison, and Sandra Nelson, and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her first husband Paul D. Parker and her parents, Harold and Irma Nelson.
Carol loved her cats and spent numerous, contented hours crafting, knitting, and needlepointing. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, a hobby passed down by her father. She was a kind, gentle, and strong soul who spent many years volunteering in the Mendon-Upton schools (especially in the library) and in the Upton senior program in various capacities. She was the parking clerk and warrant officer and also assisted in town elections. These activities brought her much joy. She was also a proud team member at Target in Milford for many years.
Carol was a communicant at Saint Gabriel the Archangel Parish in Upton, where she was an Extraordinary Minister of Communion.
