Carmine Nicholas Iannuzzi Sr., 81, of Woodbridge, devoted husband of Ethel “Rusty” Schmitt Iannuzzi, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 3, 2006 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Carmine was born in Casalduni, Italy on July 16, 1925. He immigrated to the United States in 1939. From 1948 to 1952, he served his country with the US Army of Occupation in Japan. After his discharge, he was employed at the Uniroyal Chemical Company as a pipe fitter and chemical worker until his retirement in 1999. During his time at Uniroyal, he served in various official capacities for Union Local 218, United Rubber Workers. He was an untiring advocate of worker’s rights. Carmine was a man of the Earth. He was an extraordinary gardener with a special penchant for tomatoes.
