Carmen Valenzuela Roney, 93, of Las Cruces, NM passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022, peacefully at home with family present. Carmen was born on September 22, 1929, in Montoya, Texas to Leonardo and Aurora Valenzuela. She was second oldest of sixteen (16) siblings.
Carmen was a manager of Aaronson Brothers apparel store on Main Street in the 1960’s and she was able to turn her hobby as an upholsterer into her career. She was the proud owner of Carmen’s Upholstery for many years. She was a wonderful mother to her three daughters, Paula Guillory (Harry) of Abita Springs, LA, Lucia Watkins (Danny) of Lakeland, FL and Olga Secrest (John) of Alamogordo, NM. She also raised her granddaughter, Harriet Barbosa (Marques) of Florence, AZ.
Also surviving Carmen are four sisters, Dora Sanchez, Lucy Hinojosa, Praxedis Sanchez, and Clara Moreno (Elias) all of Las Cruces, NM; two brothers, Kito Valenzuela and companion Gloria of T or C, NM and Leo Valenzuela (Irene) of Las Cruces, NM; four grandchildren, Clayton Guillory of Abita Springs, LA, Victoria Guillory of Abita Springs, LA, John Secrest III (Autumn) of Alamogordo, NM, and Claire Secrest of Alamogordo, NM; as well as many great, great grandchildren that loved and adored her.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Feliciana “Chana” Cooper and Gogi Angel.
