Carmen Chagolla, 89, of Colorado Springs died Saturday, July 10, at her home.

She was born May 25, 1932, in Johnstown to Luis P. and Tomasa (Ramirez) Albarran.  Her grandparents were Teodocio and Luisa Ramirez.

Mrs. Chagolla lived in Greeley most of her life.  She graduated from Greeley High School.  In 1959 she married Pete Chagolla and they were blessed with 58 years of marriage and four children.   Carmen also took care of foster children, some of whom she raised to adulthood.  She and Pete owned and operated El Charro Mexican Restaurant from 1970 until retiring in 2001. They moved to Colorado Springs in 2003.  She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, cooking, and helping others.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Abeyta and husband Jess; three sons, Louis R. Chagolla and wife Kelley of Greeley, Pete Chagolla, Jr. and wife Kari of Colorado Springs, and Anthony Chagolla and wife Elana of Land O’Lakes Florida; foster son, Samuel Lopez and wife Millie of Ogallala NE; brother, Frank R. Albarran and wife Mary of Chicago IL; two sisters, Mary Martinez of Westminster, and Juanita A. Garcia and husband Victor of Greeley; sister in-law, Maria de Jesus Albarran of Naperville, IL;  8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; husband; brother, Thomas Albarran; and brother in-law, Angel Martinez.
