Carla Sue Thompson, 63, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. She was born in Tokyo, Japan on Johnson AFB in 1959. Her birth name was Carla Sue Link. She is the daughter of Albert Thomas Link and Maria Augustina Link. The family went on to live in Ogdensburg, NY and then Long Island, NY The Air Force brought them to Alamogordo, NM in 1966, where she graduated from high school in 1977. 

Carla then moved to Las Cruces, NM to attend NMSU, where she Graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She married her husband Eddie Thompson in Alamogordo on June 11,1988. Carla and Eddie had two children, Trevor and Tessa Thompson. She served on the Alamogordo Daily News for almost six years as a Graphic Artist and National Accounts Representative. 

Carla served as the Worship Arts Director for Christ Community Church and Cottonwood Christian Fellowship for more than 30 years. She became ordained as a Worship Arts Pastor while serving at Cottonwood Christian Fellowship on 24 September 2008. Carla passionately sang with the Handmaidens since 1995 with her talented friends Eileen Soffera, Jessica Nichols, Jeanine Oechsner, Miel Pridemore, and Samantha Parsons. She was an accomplished artist, painter, and graphic designer who utilized her talents throughout the community. 

Carla is survived by her husband, Eddie Thompson; daughter, Tessa Thompson; son, Trevor Thompson and his wife, Marisa and their children, Owen, Dean and Blake; nieces, Janay Link and Renay Banko. 
She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Link; mother, Maria Link; brother, Charles Link; and sister, Mariko Bertrand.
