Carla Montag, age 58 of West Bend, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018, at her home.
Carla Marie Montag, the daughter of Eugene and Emma (Becker) Thul, was born on April 19, 1960, in Algona, Iowa. She graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School in 1978. After graduation, Carla attended Iowa Central Community College. She was united in marriage to Frank Montag on April 25, 1981, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe, Iowa. Carla was employed by the West Bend Mallard School District as the Business Manager, where she worked for over 26 years.
Carla’s pride and joy were her boys and grandsons. She absolutely loved taking care of them. She enjoyed working in her garden, tending to her flowers, making crafts, cooking, and collecting cookbooks. Carla also enjoyed supporting the West Bend Mallard School.
Carla is survived by her husband of 37 years, Frank Montag of West Bend; sons, Chris (Rachel) Montag of West Bend, Mitch (Kelly) Montag of Clear Lake, Aaron Montag of West Bend, and Ian Montag of West Bend; two grandsons, Brantley and Bodey Montag of West Bend; siblings, Donna (Ray) Forsythe of Fort Dodge, Barb Forsythe of San Tan Valley, AZ, Jeannie Pittsley of Libby, Montana, Dick (Sheryl) Thul of Boone, Virginia (Joe) Kulisek of Westchester, Illinois, Millie Crawford of Fort Dodge, Emily Bendickson of Farnhamville, Irene Cameron of Des Moines, Peggy (Ron) Kovacs of Glen Cambell, Pennsylvania and Don (Linda) Thul of West Bend along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Lou, Charlene Miller, and Fran Johnston; brother, David; brother-in-law, Bill Crawford, Gary Bendickson, Lannie Miller, Richard Cameron, and Dale Pittsley.
