Time with the ones we love and cherish is fickle and elusive. In our youth, it goes by too slowly and we can never imagine there is not plenty of time left to be with them and enjoy their company. And then it reverses and accelerates. Finally, the time to say goodbye has arrived.
The time for Dad, us kids, our family and friends has come to say goodbye to the special person Mom was to each of us. She was born, Carla Jean Henderson on July 1, 1942 to Donald and Clema Henderson in Payette, Idaho. She joined the family as a second daughter, with her sister, Donna being the eldest, and the two sisters were joined by a brother, Don R. eleven years later. She passed away peacefully at home, with her family by her side on June 3, 2017
She met Dad at the age of 13 and became his wife at 18. They began their journey together in November 1960; spanning 56 years and included many places they called “home” from Maine to Alaska and a tour in Germany. As the wife of an Air Force Officer, Mom got to do the things she loved most, shop and entertain; she may have been the original” Fashionista.” As their kids grew up, Mom went back to school and became a talented Cosmetologist. It was an accomplishment that she was very proud of.
But more than that, our Mom loved her family. She and Dad raised, a daughter, Christine and a son, Michael.
As the family grew to include spouses, Mike and Luci, Chris and Neil; Mom became Nana. She and Dad “Granddad” watched the family grow to 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
True love does not die, it is passed on and is multiplied to be given to others. Thank you Mom. The love you gave us will be shared and grow.
Do not waste your worries on time moving too slowly or dwelling in the past. For in the blink of an eye, it is moving too fast.
Time has no meaning to those who love and are willing to be loved. It is only a measure, to be marked with gratefulness, and cherished for eternity as we travel through life.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents and brother. She is survived by her husband, Mac, her children, Chris (Neil), Mike (Luci), her sister (Donna), and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
We would like to offer a special thank you to Jennifer, who was a source of company, comfort, and kindness. With her help, Mom was able to be at home with her family until her passing.
