Jean C. Keyser, 91, of Wakarusa and formerly of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 26, 2019 at Miller’s Merry Manor, surrounded by love and family.

Jean C. Keyser “Sister” known to her siblings was born on June 9, 1927 in Elkhart to the late Nicholas J. and Blanche Irene (Homan) Bowers.

She is survived by her loving daughter Sue Ann (Jim) Hampel; her two granddaughters whom she adored, Sarah Jean (Brandon) Nadolny; Amy Sue Hampel and fiancé Dakota Kizer; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Jean worked in commercial banking for over 20 years. She started at Owner’s Discount, then worked at Valley Bank and retired from Bank One. She had many interest and hobbies, including cooking, reading, ceramics and was very artistic. She was a member of the Elkhart Art League and was a tutor at Eastwood School for many years, Jean also volunteered at Elkhart General Hospital and Meals on Wheels for 10 years, where she delivered meals and worked in the office. She often took her granddaughters, Sarah and Amy with her while she delivered the meals.  Most of all, her family was everything to her.

Jean’s family would like to thank Miller’s Merry Manor and the Center for Hospice Care for the loving care and kindness extended to mom over the years she resided at Miller’s.
