On July 14, 2009, Carl William Hoppe, Jr. passed away. He is survived by his cherished wife of 44 years, Dorothy E. Merson. Carl is also survived by his loving step-son Kenneth Merson Sr., step-daughter-in-law Lindsey Merson, and brothers Henry “Henny” Hoppe and Frederick “Fitz” Hoppe. Other survivors include his step-grandchildren Riley & Daniel Gardner and Bobbie Jo, Sandra, and Kenneth Merson, Jr. as well as many nieces & nephews. Carl was predeceased by his step-children Gilbert & Sandra Merson and brother Earl Hoppe.
Carl was born in Baltimore to Anna & Carl Hoppe, Sr. and served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion, the Moose Lodge for 50 years and the WWII Memorial Museum in Louisianna. Carl loved shortwave radios, other electronics, walking, fishing, sightseeing, and attending festivals & fairs.
