Carl E. Taylor
Carl E. Taylor, 89, passed away from this life at the Chariton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, February 18, 2010. Carl was born April 16, 1920 in Lucas County to Carl and Erma McMaines Taylor. He was the oldest of three sons and grew up in Derby, Iowa. He graduated high school in 1937 and attended one year at Chariton Junior College and one year at Iowa State College. He then worked in an airplane factory in Burbank, California.
He married Audrey Cunningham on February 14, 1943.
After marriage, Carl farmed for a time with his father in Derby.
Carl and Audrey purchased and moved to the Cunningham farm north of Lucas after Audrey’s parents retired in the late 1950’s.
After selling their farm, Carl and Audrey moved to Chariton in 1990.
They spent 19 winters in Arizona enjoying the “snow bird life” and making many new friends. Carl was always ready for a card game.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Erma Taylor.
Honorary bearers were Keith Kent, Joe Bahr, Edwin Allen, Bob Hunter, Gene Gwinn, and Jeff Taylor.
