Carl R. Maybaugh, 92, of Linton passed away Sunday, May 13th, 2007 at Greene County General Hospital. Born September 16, 1914, in Clay Co., Indiana, he was the son of Charles and Chessie (Winikie) Maybaugh. He married Nerva H. (Hamilton) on December 17th, 1973. Carl served in the US Army during WW II. He received (4) four Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart Medals. Carl worked at the Hawthorne Mine with Peabody Coal Co. for 45 years.
Survivors include his wife, Nerva H. (Hamilton) Maybaugh, one son, Jon R. Sylvia Maybaugh of Savannah, GA; one daughter, June Hastings of Alpharetta, GA; three grandchildren, Carrie Kellogg, Julie Allard and Jill Howgate and also three great-grandchildren, Jessica Horn, Carson and Holden Howgate. He is also survived by one sister; Patty Haseman of Clay City. Carl is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Roy and George ‘Buck’ Maybaugh and one sister Irene Duncan..
