Carl Norman Heck was born on February 17, 1928, in Ottokee, Ohio. He peacefully passed on November 15, 2021.

He attended schools in Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan, meeting his to-be wife, Mary Adelaide “Addie” VanVerth while studying at Toledo University. On June 30, 1949, they married and moved to Winter Haven, Florida, where Carl’s parents had moved. Carl worked for the city of Winter Haven and then got a job at Continental Can Company, where he worked for 28 years. Their children, David, Tommy, and Luann were born in Winter Haven.

Addie and Carl retired in 1981 to reside in Westcliffe for 40 years. They traveled, worked on fixer-upper houses with their daughter, and Carl made wooden toys, puzzles, and decorations. He and Herb Weimer walked and mapped the D & RG Railroad. The maps of that adventure are stored in the All Aboard Museum.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, 4 and a half months, Addie Heck; son, David (Ellie) of rural Westcliffe; daughter, Luann, Agder, Ala; four grandchildren, Amy (Jesse) Warren, Melissa Heck, both of Charlottesville, Virginia, Tember Armstrong of Burton, Michigan, and Jayd (Bethanie) Armstrong of Canon City, CO; eight great-grandchildren, Van, Charlotte, Cliff, Cread (Jewel), Cayed (Baylee), Divanee, Aria, and Landon; and two great-great-grandchildren, Rayne and Delylah. He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman Carl Heck and Ethel (Wooters) Heck; older brother, William Edward; and his son, Thomas “Tommy” Heck, who passed in June of 2021.
