Carl H. Serus, 63, of Oxford, died peacefully Thursday, April 30, 2009 at his home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Marilyn DeBisschop Serus. Mr. Serus was born February 10, 1946 in Norwich, son of Carl J. Serus of Norwich and the late Mildred Drabik Serus. He graduated from the University of Connecticut, Class of 1969, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Mr. Serus was the administrative assistant to the first selectman of Town of Oxford. He started working for the town in 1988, serving also as the finance director. After a short retirement, he was the finance director for the Town of Beacon Falls and then returned to Oxford to continue there in his current position. In the early 1980’s, Mr. Serus co-hosted a radio talk show with Dean Pepin, on WADS 690 in Ansonia. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and watching Boston Red Sox baseball games. He was a huge fan of the UCONN Women’s Basketball Team, attending several of their games, including their Final Four appearances in the NCAA basketball tournaments.
