Carl F. Shuster, age 87, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016 in Haines City, FL. He was born on September 8, 1928 in McLeansboro, IL, a son of Fred and Macie (Taylor) Shuster. He served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1952. Carl moved to the Kalamazoo area and began working as an engineer at Allied Paper Corporation.
After 20 years with Allied, he left to become the Pilot Plant Director of Western Michigan University’s Paper Engineering Department, retiring in 1992. He was preceded in death by his parents, a half-brother, Gary Hester and a step-sister, Maryjoe Parker. On June 25, 1955, Carl married the former Carol J. Van Auken who survives.
Also surviving are four children, Carolyn (Steve) Reynolds of Mattawan, Ronald (Michele) Shuster of Vicksburg, Ken Shuster of Kalamazoo and Dianne Bell of Bradenton, FL; several grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Shuster of Shelbyville, TN and Donald (Evelyn) Shuster of Moweaqua, IL; a sister, Mae Hays of Moweaqua, IL; a half-sister Vickie (Lou) Egyud of Weirton, WV; three step-brothers, Val (Jan) McPeak of Ft. Meyers, FL, Curt (Margie) McPeak of Dalton City, IL and Dean (Cecile) McPeak of Troy, IL; a step-sister, Norma Brehm; and several nieces and nephews.
