Carl E. Roles, 87, of 714 Snyder Road, Cogan Station, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at the Gatehouse.
Carl and his wife, the former Vonda V. Snyder, celebrated their 66th anniversary in June 2010.
Carl was an active member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Quiggleville, serving on many committees. He was also a member of American Legion Post 104, Montoursville and V.F.W. Post 7863, Duboistown.
Carl was an avid hunter and fisherman, and in his early years enjoyed bowling, playing softball and was a Ralston High School Varsity football star.
Born Nov. 10, 1923, in Calvert he was the son of Amos and Ethel Yaw Roles.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Carla M. Mitcheltree of Williamsport, Jill L. (Rusty) Moyer and Vicky A. (John) Livermore both of Cogan Station; grandchildren, Craig, Kevin and Heather Mitcheltree, Heidi (Sean) Mackey, Nathan and Mindy Williams, Ty Moyer, Justin Livermore and Marcia (Erik) Lippassaar, five great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Carl was predeceased by brothers, Lynn, Harold and Archie and a sister, Myrna Welty.
