Carl Baker, 76, Anderson, passed away September 29, 2008 at St. Johns Health System, Anderson Indiana after a sudden illness. He was born October 15, 1931 in Summitville, Indiana, and resided in Madison County most of his life.

Carl was a 1950 graduate of Summitville High School where he played in the 1949 basketball state finals.

He served his country as a Sargent in the US Marines during the Korean Conflict where he received a purple heart. He retired in 1985 as a supervisor in plants 3 and 20 of Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 35 years. He was a member of the Fellowship Masonic Lodge #681 F. & A.M, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Madison County Shrine Club, VFW Post #266, Bob Evans Breakfast Club.

Carl was an avid sports fan.

He is survived by his wife whom he married May 9, 1973, Karen Bolton Baker; children, Steve Baker & companion Donna of Ft. Myers, Florida, Cynthia Stookey of Greenwood and the love of his life, granddaughter/daughter, Autumn Stookey of Anderson; sisters, Jenny Brown of Anderson, Joan Keith McIntyre of Lake Havasu, Arizona and Linda Littleton of El Paso, Texas; brothers, Sherman Betty Baker of Marion and Fred Baker of Cincinncati, Ohio; best friend, Ralph Gordon of Summitville; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Jessie Maddox Baker.
