Candelario “Gilbert” Naranjo, age 64 of Midland, died Monday evening May 2, 2016 at his residence. The son of the late Candelario and Aurora (Torres) Naranjo was born in Alice, Texas on May 20, 1951. Gilbert had been employed with General Motors Co. until his retirement in 1997 after 21 years of service. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, playing euchre, making tamales, landscaping, fishing and watching boxing on TV. He was a member of A.A. of which he was 26 years sober and the United Way.
Surviving is his wife of 43 years the former Sandra L. Sherwood of whom in married in 1972; children, Celena (Robert) Perkins of Farwell, Sabrina (Scott) Young of Coleman, Candelario R. (Brittney) Naranjo, Cassandra (Russell) Mapes and Micheal G. Naranjo all of Midland; 8 grandchildren; siblings, Norma, Josie, Daisy, Ann, Mary, Lupe, Carman, Alonzo, Sandra. In addition to his parents Gilbert was preceded in death by his daughter, Joni Marie Naranjo; brothers, Johnny and Candelario G. Naranjo.
