Candace “Candy” Jane Ammarman, age 77, of Mason, died peacefully on June 6, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer.Candy was born on February 1, 1947, in St. Johns, Michigan to Robert and Esther (Smith) Pratt. The youngest of three, Candy, “tall girl”, joined her two sisters, Peri-Anne “small girl” and Nancy “bad girl”. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in 1965.Candy met John Ammarman in 1967, and after a six-week courtship, they married on November 3, 1967, at the First Congregational Church in St. Johns. They eventually made their home in Mason and together raised their two daughters, Heather and Jennifer. Candy enjoyed a long career as a bookkeeper with USFG and America One of Lansing, until her retirement in 2004.Candy and John embarked on numerous journeys together, they traveled to Hawaii and Alaska, took pleasure in sightseeing road trips to Arizona, and relished the warmth of Florida in the winter since 2010. She also had a strong affinity for puzzles, country concerts, and was a well-known and lucky gambler. She had a knack for organizing (and winning!) the football pools at work and was a dedicated sports fan, often seen cheering for MSU, the Lions, and Tigers. Above all, Candaces most cherished treasures were her beloved family. She was loving and loyal to her husband, was proud of her daughters and was devoted to her six grandchildren. She loved attending their sport and dance events and was her grandchildren’s number one fan. Her presence was a constant source of love and support for them. She will be forever missed for her bubbly personality and her fun-loving, lively spirit.She is survived by her beloved husband of fifty six years, John Ammarman; two daughters, Heather (Bob) Martin and Jennifer (Gary) Yee; grandchildren, Eric, Brian, Carleigh and Allyson Martin, Madison and Reagan Yee; sisters, Peri-Anne (Bill) Warstler and Nancy (Larry) Moeggenberg; sister-in-law, Karen (Jim Paquet) Ammarman; brother-in-law, Scott (Joy) Ammarman, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
