 February 4, 1923 – April 30, 2011, age 88

Born to Ray and Vernie Brumfield in Freeport, Long Island.

Moved to Tucson, Arizona at age 17 where he met his future wife and love of his life, Evangeline Stewart.

Served in WWII. Received his Ph.D. in geology from the University of Illinois. Worked for the USGS for over thirty years, mapping and studying the San Juan Mountains, near Telluride, Colorado and in Arizona and Utah. He and Evangeline enjoyed ten years sailing in the San Juan Island area immediately after retirement, then another ten years snowbirding in Safford, Arizona.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Evangeline (2002) and his grandson David Norell (2004, age 24). He is survived by his four children Rae Ann Norell, Calvin Jr. (and Helen), Lisa Bromfield, and Mark (and Juanita). He is survived by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and his good friend Jane Trudeau, and his beloved dog, Matilda. 

He will be sorely missed. Dad, we love you!
