Details: Calvin Leonard Wootton, 92, of Pasadena, passed away on October 10, 2010 in Chestertown. He was born in Baltimore on January 30, 1918. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorna Eileen Wootton; his parents, Edgar S. and Iva V. Wootton; and brothers Perrin, Irvin, Harvey and Raymond. Calvin left behind his daughter Sharon Hughes Wootton and domestic partner, Maggie Anne Savage of Shaw Island, Washington; his son Michael Calvin Wootton and his wife, Eugenia Cooper Wootton, of Kennedyville, Maryland; grandchildren Devin Cooper Wootton, of Pasadena, Maryland, and Kathleen Elizabeth Wootton, of Kennedyville, Maryland, and several nieces and nephews and their children. He and Lorna lived on their Magothy River property since 1946. Only for the last year did they reside at Safe Haven Manor in Sudlersville, where they received the highest quality care from the staff, including hugs and kisses. A member of The Greatest Generation, Calvin survived the Depression and World War II. He served as a Third Class Petty Officer in the Naval Post Office in the South Pacific. He was stationed on the west coast between overseas assignments. Lorna followed him to Seattle and San Francisco, working while waiting for the war to end. He worked for the U.S. Post Office in Baltimore for many years, followed by a job that he loved, driving charter buses. The family’s acre on the Magothy River was his pride and joy.
