Long-time North Shore resident Calvin Koppel Barnes passed October 14, 2021, in Hampton, NH following a long illness. He was 92.
Barnes was born May 24, 1929, in the Bronx, NY. He was the son of the late Nathan David Bernstein and Sadie Berg Bernstein.
He graduated from the elite Bronx High School of Science and received his BS and MBA in business from New York University where he was a member of the fraternity Phi Sigma Delta.
Barnes worked in finance and accounting for companies in New Haven, CT, Cincinnati, OH and Watertown, MA. In addition, he was a self-employed accountant and tax consultant for many years, serving customers at their homes throughout Boston’s North Shore region.
Prior to moving to Hampton in 2019, Barnes lived on the North Shore for nearly 40 years, including Groveland, Byfield, Newburyport, Middleton, Lynnfield, and Peabody.
During the 1960s, Calvin was active in the Boy Scouts, Little League and active in local politics all in Peabody.
Barnes was married to his beloved wife Nancy Anastasia Barnes for over 43 years, who died in March 2020. He is survived by Jeffrey Barnes, David Barnes and his wife Jane, Wendy Consentino and her husband Chuck. He was predeceased by a daughter Nancy Barnes. Also surviving are Charles Anastasia, Joseph Anastasia and his wife Trena, Peter Anastasia and his wife Marianne, Nancijo Wolter and husband Randy, Marion Anastasia and her husband Scott, Vivian Anastasia-Hurton and her husband Kevin and 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
