Calvin DeYoung, age 75, of DeMotte, IN passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at home surrounded by loved ones.

On December 10, 1946, Calvin DeYoung was born in Rensselaer to Cecil and Alice (Klemp) DeYoung. He graduated from DeMotte High School, Class of 1964. Calvin is a lifetime farmer, starting at the age of 18 on his family-owned farm. He married Vicki Lee Bodnarick on June 10, 1965 in DeMotte at First Reformed Church (Dutch Corner) in DeMotte. Calvin was a member of the First Reformed Church his whole life, until it closed, and served there as a Deacon. He was a member of the Lake County Coon Hunters Club, an avid coon hunter as well as goose and duck hunting. Calvin enjoyed dirt track racing, mini-stock and 4-cylinder cars, and watching his son’s race. He loved his family and was sure to attend every child and grandchild’s events.

Calvin is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Vicki DeYoung; children: Kelly (Randy) Wireman, Kevin DeYoung, and Brad (Carmen) DeYoung all of DeMotte, IN; 8 grandchildren: Kayla (Ray) Villalobos, Chad Kepner, Travis Kepner, Teague (Derek) Bunning, Hunter DeYoung, Beau DeYoung, Taylor (Justin) Davis, and Cody James; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Loretta Hamstra and brother, Paul (Teresa) DeYoung.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil & Alice DeYoung and in-laws, George & Florence Bodnarick.
