Calvin Boyd Bessey, 84, of Bloomington, formerly of Dwight and Ottawa, died Nov. 2, at HCR Manor Care in Normal.
Mr. Bessey was born on April 7, 1925 in Merrill, Wisconsin, to Ralph H. and Anna (Carlson) Bessey. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. He married Ruth E. Andersen on Dec. 1, 1946 in St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dwight. He was employed as a claims adjuster for the Hartford, retiring in 1988. Mr. Bessey was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Normal and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottawa.
He is survived by 1 daughter, Marcia (Ron) Fetzer, of Bloomington, 1 son, Mark (Lea) Bessey of Marietta, Georgia, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Don (Marge) Bessey of Sarasota.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jan. 5, 2008.
