Callie Etta Evans, age 96 of Fort Walton Beach,  went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 12, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. 

        Callie was born October 27, 1912, in Coffee County, Alabama, to the late Jesse and Polly Edgar Hood. 

She is preceded in death  by her husband Grayson Stewart Evans and by 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

       Callie is survived by her loving family; son: Byron Adolph Wambles and his wife Lynda of Shalimar, FL; daughter Charla Wambles Cotton and her husband E. L. “Buddy” of Shalimar, FL. three precious grandchildren; Byron Cotton and his wife Julie of Destin, FL, Stephanie Cotton Christensen and her husband Rob of Phoenix, Arizona, and Teri Frazier and her husband Mike of Smyrna, Tennessee, and one great granddaughter Sarah Emily Taylor also of Smyrna, Tennessee, and many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

Callie was a life member of the Fort Walton Chapter 202 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Pacesetters Homemakers Club, where she served as the first president.

            The family would like to extend appreciation to Dr. Bernard Russell, her physician who faithfully cared for her for forty years, the Benton House staff, the nursing staff of the CCC unit of Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, and her Friday night domino ladies who included and encouraged her even in her last days.
