Calixto Morin, December 22, 1936 – July 3, 2016.

Mr. Morin passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016 in Temple.

Calixto was born on December 22, 1936 in Belle Plains, Texas to John P. and Maria (Moreno) Morin. He moved as a young man to the Central Texas area and attended school in Belton and Salado. As a young man, Calixto worked for the Griggs Furniture Company in Belton before being drafted into the Air Force in 1959. After leaving the military in 1963, Mr. Morin worked for American Desk Company. In 1967, Calixto joined the Ft. Hood Fire Department and worked for the department for over 24 years, retiring in 1991 as the Chief Fire Inspector.

Calixto married Mary Alice Ortiz in 1961, and the couple was blessed with four wonderful sons.

After retirement, Calixto became a licensed Baptist minister, serving in various churches in the area, setteling in as the Pastor at a church in Marlin, Texas. While in Marlin, he received numerous accolades. Unfortunately, illness forced Mr. Morin into retirement again and he fought bravely through this illness. He was a member of the First Mexican Baptist Church in Belton.

Mr. Morin was preceded in death by his parents, a stillborn son Moses Morin, and two brothers Solomon Morin and John Morin. He is survived by three sons, John David Morin and his wife Darlene, Caleb Morin, and Paul Morin and his wife Mandy, three brothers David Morin, James Morin, Sam Morin, and five sisters, Josephine Espinoza, Rashel Escamilla, Ruth Gutirrez, Martha Canava, and Gloria Machuca. He is also survived by grandchildren Mia Morin, Ben Morin, Macaila Morin, Cameron Morin, Hannah Morin, and Joseph Morin, as well as many nieces and nephews.
