C. Edward “Neil” Keller of Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth, formerly of Bethlehem, and Union, N.J., died Thursday in his home. He was 90. He was the husband of Gladyce C. “Riki” (Richter) Keller, who died in 2002. They met while members of their church youth group and were married for 54 years. Born in Newark, N.J., he was a son of the late Cornelius and Florence (Ackerman) Keller. He was employed by the Union school system for more than 30 years, retiring in June 1981 as director of the Department of Health and Physical Education. He also served at various times as director of athletics for the junior and senior high schools, high school team trainer, freshman football coach, and health and physical education teacher. For many years, he also worked summers as director of waterfront activities for Camp Weequahic in Lakewood, Wayne County, Pa. Before that, he was employed in Newark, N.J., by U.S. Steel and by Blanchard Bros. and Lane. He graduated with honors in 1949 from Panzer College, now part of Montclair State University in Montclair, N.J., with a bachelor of science degree. He received a master of arts degree in 1952 from New York University. After moving to Bethlehem, he joined Edgeboro Moravian Church, where he had served on the Putz Committee and as superindentent of the Sunday school. Before that, he was a member and deacon of Connecticut Farms Presbyterian Church, Union. He served as an aviation machinists mate first class in the Navy during World War II.
