Byron Michael Glapion, Sr.. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church….Byron was born in New Orleans, LA on August 5, 1946 to the union of the late Mr. Lawrence Glapion, Sr. and Mrs. Millie Parker Glapion. He was married to Joann Scott Glapion. He attended George Washington Carver High School and enlisted inthe United States Marine Corps at the age of 19. During his time in the U.S. Marine Corps he served in theVietnam War and was awarded 2 Purple Hearts, a Vietnamese Service Medal, a Vietnam Campaign Medal,a National Defense Service Medal, a Presidential Unit Citation, a Good Conduct Medal. At the conclusionof his military service; Byron began a life-long career in law enforcement. He retired from the LouisianaCivil Service Division as the Chief of Police for Delgado Community College.Following retirement, he fulfilled his dream of moving to Mississippi to be closer to his siblings and live inthe small tranquil country town of Carriere. Byron was a devoted husband and father who was loved andrespected by all who knew him. He spent most of his time outdoors tending to his land improving hisquality of life.. He couldn’t wait toreturn to brag about the day’s catch. He was kind-hearted, genuine and always willing to do whatever hecould in the service of others in need. Many people would describe him as the best man they leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Myra Glapion, son Joseph Bridgewater Jr.. and Kent Glapion Sr.., Julius Scott (Ali), Curtis Scott Sr.(Simone), Julie Furigay (Marc), Jay Scott, his grandchildren Adasha Vallery, Kori Glapion, Kodi Glapion,great-granddaughter Jadore Wilhike, his best friend Randy Sartin, a host of nieces and nephews, otherrelatives and was proceeded in death by his father Lawrence Glapion, Sr., mother Millie ParkerGlapion, son Byron Glapion Jr..(Dorothy), Errol Glapion Sr., Elliott Glapion(Arthemese) and sisters Lynn Ard and Estelle .
