Byron Lloyd Reeser, 82 of Freeport, died Friday August 20, 2004 at Freeport Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Born January 13, 1922 in Orangeville, IL. He was the son of James and Erma (Kyler) Reeser. On November 1, 1947 he married Pearl Crowell in Morrisdale, Penn. He was a member of the First Free Methodist Church.
Byron first worked in the sawmill and logging trade for his father-in-law in Pennsylvania and for a long time he would spend his winters working in Pennsylvania and his summer’s here in the Freeport area working for his Uncle Willie Reuber doing concrete work and later Albert Mann Construction. He then spent time working for the Oak Brand Creamery. In 1972 he and his son started Safety Services incorporated.
In WW II Byron was in the infantry, 94th division and E.T.O. he was Honorably discharged in October of 1945 with T/Sargent rating. He received a Good Conduct ribbon with four battle stars and a combat Infantryman’s badge and was awarded the Bronze Star for Heroic achievements.
Surviving is his wife, Pearl, four daughters, Nancy (Pat) Clark of Loves Park, Cindy (James) Rohde of Dakota, Linda (Randy) Bush of Freeport, and Penny Reeser of Freeport. One son Byron Jr. (Karin) Reeser of Freeport. Seven grandchildren Carolyn (Randy) Kreuger of Lyndon Station, Wis. Monica (Drew) Tennant of Freeport, Marcey (Terry) Morrell of Moweaqua, IL, Jimmy Rohde of Dakota, Jeff Rohde of Freeport, Alyssa and Kelsey Bush of Freeport. Two Great grandchildren Nicholas and Neil Schultz of Lyndon Station, WI. One brother Robert Reeser of Santa Maria, Cal. and one sister Shelby Green of Freeport. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Shirley Augsburger.
