Burton Walden Brazee, age 87, of Columbus, Nebraska, passed away March 1, 2020 at Emerald Care and Rehabilitation Center in Columbus.
Burton was born September 25, 1932 in Polk County near Osceola to Harry Christopher and Julia Beatrice (Alverson) Brazee. He attended country school north of Osceola and graduated from Osceola High School in 1949. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korea War from January 26, 1951 to January 14, 1954.
He was united in marriage to Judy June Lane. To this union four children were born.
Burton worked in Lincoln for the Department of Roads from 1961 to 1969. He was a policeman in Columbus and served as a Deputy Sheriff from 1969 to 1978. He owned and operated Industrial Security Police in Columbus. From 1978 to 1985 he served as the Village Marshall in Clarks, Nebraska. He also did over the road trucking for Grand Island Express and other companies before again becoming the Village Marshall in Clarks from 1989 to 1990.
In 2007 he moved to Columbus and worked odd jobs retiring in 2014. In June of 2016 Burton moved to assisted living and in February of 2017 moved to long term care where he resided until his passing.
Survivors include his children: daughter Tracey Schlegel of Columbus, son Wade (Karen) Brazee of Columbus, son Russ (Julie) Brazee of Central City, daughter Joey (Shannon) Rupp of Lincoln; 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandson; brother James Brazee of Lincoln; sister-in-law Helen Brazee of Lincoln; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Judy who passed away December 28, 2016; parents; sister Margie Wells and brother-in-law Douglas Wells; brother Glen Brazee and sister-in-law Margaret Brazee.
